President/ CEO

OPPORTUNITIES: The Board of Directors for the McAlester Area Chamber of Commerce in McAlester, OK is seeking a President/ Chief Executive Officer (CEO) who has the energy and vision to take this long standing organization to the next level. Board seeks a leader who is responsible for creating a business and operational plan to achieve the strategic goals identified through the joint efforts of the Chamber's leadership, professional staff and the membership at large. The Chamber President is accountable for the organizational activities of the Chamber including but not limited to: program initiatives, membership recruitment and retention, business development, training and supervision of staff, and volunteers. Chamber President is also responsible for fostering increased collaboration with City of McAlester, other surrounding communities, other chambers and other organizations. This position works in harmony with the Chamber's Board of Directors, Executive Committee as well as other committees and is responsible for the administration of the professional staff.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND OTHER CHARACTERISTICS
Tenured experience in management with success documented through previous organizational programs and initiatives and achievement of predetermined goals.
Excellent communication skills, including written, oral and listening skills, public speaking in large and small groups, representing the chamber in both print and broadcast interviews and attention to detail is key.
Technical ability to advertise/manage social media pages/campaigns and website content.
Strong political acumen with an ability to tactfully work with differing opinions, build consensus, represent chamber members individually and collectively and have strong interpersonal skills.
Demonstrates ability to interface with city, economic development, education, retail, and other business entities.
Seeks and provides regular communication with regional and state-wide agencies to generate new opportunities for the organization and community;
Serves as the organization's primary liaison with the public sector and acts as the primary spokesperson for the organization and represents the officers, Board and membership in this capacity.
Responsible for the development of the annual budget and ensuring that expenditures meet the approved budget allocation. Understands and is responsible for the financial viability and potential growth of the organization.
Passionate enthusiasm and desire to help the organization reach its goals.
A person of integrity who is a proven organizer and visionary with outstanding time management skills.
A strong understanding of what a chamber of commerce or similar membership-driven organization is and the ability to work with a wide variety of people.
Promotes a servant leadership management style that provokes a team effort.
Ability to work collaboratively and positively with others of diverse backgrounds, opinions and needs;
Possesses computer skills to maximize productivity (Microsoft Office, Publisher, ChamberMaster, Constant Contact);
Has the ability to motivate and create enthusiasm for new projects;
Possesses the academic foundation, experience and demonstrated ability in business, marketing, finance, tourism, organizational management and volunteerism;
Strong organizational skills including the ability to plan, organize, and set long-term strategy with an appropriate work plan to accomplish objective;
Versatility - applies a wide range of aptitudes, skills, and abilities. Able to multi-task;
Requires sufficient physical capacity to service indoor and outdoor events and activities including ability to lift 35 pounds.

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will be forward-thinking and of the utmost character with the ability to lead the organization through servant-leadership of the members and the community. Serving the Board of Directors as the leader of the Chamber staff, the President/CEO must have the ability to forge strong relationships through team building, goal setting, and strategic planning.
A minimum of a bachelor's degree or equivalent in public administration, business, economics, marketing or related field from an accredited university is preferred.
Professional experience in Chambers of commerce is highly desirable.
Executive leadership, public relations, written and verbal communication, and business advocacy skills is desirable.
Any combination of education, training, and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties and responsibilities of the job will be considered.

COMPENSATION:
The starting salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications with a range from $50,000-$60,000. Compensation also has additional benefits not included in the base salary.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
